Bringing fresh ideas to the Town of Merton

Campaign Hero

My Bio

With my extensive business experience, I will bring a valuable skill set to the Town of Merton Board of Supervisors. I am a retired Certified Financial Plannerâ„¢ with experience in financial analysis, budgeting, problem-solving and collaboration. These skills are a necessary ingredient for local leadership as we face financial challenges and a need to prioritize spending.

As a lake property owner, I would bring first person insight regarding the unique and critical issues facing the lakes in our areas. I would listen to our citizens and to the science regarding wake boating, chemical use, invasive species and other things impacting the health of our water resources.

In my view, the Town needs to strengthen its commitment to being proactive in our planning and make improvements that benefit all residents. Improving existing technology and warning systems, renewing a commitment to responsible land development and making common sense ordinance updates are just a few of the fresh ideas I’ll bring to Town leadership.

As a long-term resident of the Town that raised two kids in the local schools, I have a deep commitment to protecting what makes our community special: preserving our lakes, waterways, parks, library, and keeping our citizens safe and connected.

I’m dedicated to Protect – Plan – Improve - life in our community.

My Key Issues

Responsible land development and lake protection

The importance of preserving and protecting our Town's land and water resources cannot be understated. As a steward of our Town, I will make sure that data centers will never be established within our boundaries and that all development aligns with a committment for protecting our lakes and waterways. As the use of wake enhanced boating grows, it's critically urgent that we pass strict restrictions on the use of of wake boats for the greater good of our lakes and the owners of shoreline properties.

Emergency alert and disaster recovery assistance

In a time of growing severe weather events, such as high winds, flooding rains and wild fires, we need an efficient warning system that alerts all of our community members to pending danger. I would advocate for an "Amber Alert" type of system that reaches people where ever they may be. If a major disaster does hit, our Department of Public Works should stand in the ready to assist our neighbors with the removal of large tree limbs and other debrise.

Transparency and Communication

Many of the important decisions that the Town Board of Supervisors make happen at the Town Board meetings. I would advocate for the use of a YouTube channel at our Town Board meetings so that all community members can view what goes on at these meetings, rather than attending in person. I would also like to see our Town website refreshed and better maintenence of the Town Calendar. All relevant Town meetings, election dates, and other important information like tax payment deadlines and the Town's holiday schedule, election dates and deadlines should be located on the Calendar.
